Sam Ongeri Biography

Sam Ongeri was born on 23rd February 1938. He is a Kenyan politician and the current Senator for Kisii County. He has also served as the Kenyan UN Habitat Ambassador.

In 2013 general elections he vied for the Kisii senatorial seat but lost to Chris Obure. He has served as a minister for foreign affairs, minister for education and has also been a member of parliament for Nyaribari Masaba. He is currently the Kenyan UN-Habitat Ambassador. He vied again in 2017 and won the election to become the current senator of Kisii County.

In 2017 he was chosen as Kisii County Senator, turning into the most established individual from the Kenyan Senate. He was the executive of Athletics Kenya from 1974 to 1984.

On 12 September 2012, Ongeri was among a Kenyan assignment meeting in Mogadishu with recently chose Somali President Hassan Sheik Mohamud, when two suicide planes and two shooters wearing government regalia endeavored an assault on the Jazeera Hotel where the authorities had assembled. There were allegedly around 10 losses, among which were three Somali security detail, one AU peacekeeper, and the aggressors themselves. None of the amassed statesmen were harmed. The Al-Shabaab activist gathering later asserted duty regarding the assaults.
