Amason Kingi is a Kenyan politician who was born and brought up in Magarini Constituency, Kilifi County, Kenya. He is currently serving as the Speaker of the Senate of Kenya. He is the founder of the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) Party and is a member of the Kenya Kwanza alliance. Kingi served as the 1st Governor of Kilifi County for two terms, from 2013 to 2017 and from 2018 to 2022.
Kingi’s political journey began with his election to Parliament in 2007, representing the Magarini Constituency under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Amason Kingi Political Career
Kingi joined active politics in the year 2007. He was then elected to represent Magarini Constituency as the Member of Parliament. Before joining active politics, Amason served as a minister for Fisheries. Kingi is the current Speaker of the Senate of Kenya.

On Thursday, September 8, Kingi got 46 out of the maximum 67 votes to be announced the winner in a first-round victory. The ex-county chief had been fronted by Kenya Kwanza Coalition, which is headed by President-elect William Ruto.
Nevertheless, Kingi required at least 45 votes (what is known as an absolute majority or two-thirds majority) to be declared the winner in the first round of voting. He defeated five other candidates. They are Isaac Aluochier, Beatrice Kinyua, George Bush, Fredrick Karuri, and George Kuria. Kingi, 48, serves as the third Speaker of the Senate under the 2010 Constitution.
